Evesham Going Gold for Childhood Cancer

On August 31st, 2012 President Obama proclaimed September as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, stating "This month, we pay tribute to the families, friends, professionals, and communities who lend their strength to children fighting pediatric cancer.  May their courage and commitment continue to move us toward new cures, healthier outcomes, and a brighter future for America's youth."

In September 2019, Evesham Township, in collaboration with Evesham Fire Rescue and the Evesham Police Department, will be following the lead of the American Childhood Cancer Organization and Going Gold for Childhood Cancer.  Over the course of the month of September, Evesham Township Employees will be displaying their support for childhood cancer research by wearing Gold.

Going Gold T-Shirts are being sold through the Evesham Professional Firefighters Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity.  All proceeds will be donated to childhood cancer research through the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania Cancer Research Center.

Shirts will be available to the public on September 28th, during the townships annual Fall Festival on Main Street.  Stop by the firehouse to pick up your shirt.

Evesham Twp., NJ, July 27, 2011: Evesham Township Professional Firefighters Local 4687 is committed to recognizing and supporting outstanding students with leadership potential within our township. After a comprehensive review process by the student's teachers, three middle school students were selected for their acts of leadership in their chosen schools. The three students selected were:

  • Samantha Voiro ( DeMasi, 8th grade)
  • Anthony Principato (Marlton Middle, 8th grade)
  • Daniel Garvey (St. Joan's, 8th grade)

The students and their families were invited to our monthly meeting and presented with $100.00 gift cards to assist in purchasing school supplies in upcoming year.

In addition to students above, two Graduating Cherokee Seniors were selected by Local 4687's scholarship review committee. Students considered for a scholarship, must have an outstanding academic record with a desire to pursue studies in emergency services, management, or medicine.  After a long process the following students were presented with scholarship checks to offset the cost of college tuition.

  • Vanessa Warner $1,000.00
